Summary
The Orchestra Camp is a unique opportunity for young orchestral string players to experience the musical ensemble experience outside of their own school program. The camp is structured to improve individual performance skills, while allowing the campers to interact with other young musicians in music and socially.
A Typical Day at Camp
Each day will be filled with music instruction and social activities. A typical day will include:
- sectionals
- full orchestra rehearsal
- chamber music
- music elective
- recreation time
- afternoon and night activities
Afternoon & Night Activities
Afternoon and night activities will vary day-to-day. Activities will include:
- movie night
- dance night
- visits to the University Game Room
- outdoor recreation
Auditions
Auditions will be held the first day of the camp, immediately following camper check-in. Campers will need to prepare a 2-3 solo or musical selection for auditions.
Grand Concert
The last night of the camp will feature a Grand Concert, with all of the orchestras performing for parents and friends. The camp will be officially concluded at the end of the concert.
