Jazz Ensemble
Ensemble Summary
The Jazz Ensemble is the first of two jazz performance ensembles for the School of Music at Sam Houston State University. Jazz Ensemble employs a diverse spectrum of repertoire consisting of the most current contemporary jazz compositions as well as maintains the rich performance tradition of jazz standards written and arranged for the jazz medium.
Previous Accomplishments
In 2001 at the Wichita Jazz Festival six members of the Jazz Ensemble received outstanding performance awards.
Also in 2002 the Jazz Ensemble was selected through competitive tape audition to perform at the TMEA annual convention. Only one college/university band is invited per year.
