Wind Ensemble
Ensemble Summary
The Wind Ensemble is the premiere performing group for wind and percussion students at Sam Houston State University. The Wind Ensemble regularly performs with Faculty and Guest Artists. Seeking to encourage the growth of the repertoire for winds, an active commissioning program encouraging new compositions and premiere performances is an important part of the Wind Ensemble's curriculum. The Wind Ensemble has developed a national reputation through past performances at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, the College Band Directors National Association and the annual Contemporary Music Festival held on the Sam Houston State University campus.
Membership in the Wind Ensemble is open to students of all majors. A competitive audition is required for membership. Auditions are held two days before school starts in both the Fall and Spring semesters.
Membership in the Symphonic Band is open to student of all majors. An audition is not required for membership, but an audition is required for chair placement.
Auditions music and audition dates will be posted at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters.
