TMEA All-State/All-Region Audition Workshop
Saturday, September 26th, 2009, 9am-4pm

Sam Houston State University is proud to present its 44th Annual String Invitational workshop, for high school students who are preparing for Region and All-State Orchestra auditions.

Sessions taught by SHSU Music Faculty

General Info

On Saturday, September 26, 2009, starting at 9:00 AM, the string faculty of the School of Music will present workshop sessions on the Region etudes and All-State excerpts. These sessions will allow your students to receive individual attention from our accomplished teachers, and will cover everything from beginning practice to final, well-rehearsed performance. There are three levels of classes for the students to chose from depending on their experience with the audition materials.

In addition, as part of the workshop, the SHSU string faculty will present a concert and offer their own tips to help the students have a successful audition. For seniors there will also be a session with SHSU faculty and students to answer questions they may have about Sam Houston or college life.

What to Bring and Cost

Students need to bring a music stand to be used throughout the day. Lunch is not provided, however there are several dining facilities within walking distance of the university.

Registration begins now, with a registration fee of $25 per student (fee waived for previous All-State students). On site registration will be available on September 26th starting at 8 am. Checks can be made payable to: Sam Houston State University.
