Profile of Barbara Corbin
Barbara Corbin, mezzo-soprano, is Professor of Voice at Sam Houston State University. She has been a member of the faculty of the School of Music since 1979. Her vocal and music education studies were completed at the University of Texas at Austin.
Ms. Corbin is a frequent soloist for oratorio performances. Most recently, she has performed with the San Antonio, Austin, Brazos Valley, and Wichita Falls Symphonies. She has worked as soloist with the TMEA All-State Choir and the J.S. Bach - St. John Passion, conducted by Robert Shaw. Ms. Corbin was a guest artist at the International Schubert Festival in Feldkirch, Austria.
In addition to other duties, Ms. Corbin serves as music director for musical theater productions produced in collaboration with the departments of Theatre and Dance. She is also the music director and conductor of the Chancel Choir at the First United Methodist Church, Huntsville.
