Ryan Gilchrist earned both a Bachelor of Music Education and Masters of Music in Conducting from Sam Houston State University. While at SHSU he studied cello with Dr. Peter Kempter, and conducting with Dr. Allen Hightower and Dr. Carol Smith. Mr. Gilchrist joined the faculty of SHSU in 2007. In addition to, his work at SHSU, Mr. Gilchrist has maintained a private cello studio in the Houston area since 2001, performs frequently throughout the state of Texas in a variety of genres and venues.
