Profile of Celeste Matthews
Celeste Arnim Matthews received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Sam Houston State University with an emphasis in piano performance. She began studying piano at the age of three and excelled in the acclaimed exam program of the Trinity College of Music in London under the tutelege of Len Rhodes, LRAM, ALCM. Mrs. Matthews has also been a student of Julie Teltschik, Alfred Teltschik, Dr. John Paul, and Dr. Sergio Ruiz.
Mrs. Matthews is an active pianist in the North Houston area, where she collaborates with vocalists and instrumentalists in local and national competitions and performances. She maintained a private piano studio in The Woodlands, TX for eight years where she taught Kindermusik as well. She is currently the pianist for Christ Church United Methodist in The Woodlands, TX.
Mrs. Matthews is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Music Teachers National Association, National Guild of Piano Teachers, and an alumnus of Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity for women. Ms. Matthews has recently joined the keyboard area faculty as an adjunct professor where she teaches piano proficiency for music majors. She resides in The Woodlands, TX with her husband, Thad, an SHSU School of Music alumnus, and her young son, Liam.
