Music Majors

To become a music major in the School of Music at Sam Houston State University, students must:

  1. Be accepted as a student at Sam Houston State University
  2. Be accepted by the School of Music

Music Major Admission Checklist

For Admission to the University

  1. ______ Follow the instructions for Admission to the University.

    This involves applying online, sending a fee, and having your test scores and transcripts sent to the Admissions office.

    Financial Aid and Housing information are available online as well.

For Admission to the School of Music

  1. ______ Request an Audition online.
  2. ______ Distribute three Scholarship Recommendation Forms and have them returned to the School of Music before your audition.
  3. ______ Complete the online School of Music Application for Admission and Scholarship.
  4. ______ Complete your on-campus audition.
  5. ______ After approximately three weeks, you will be notified of the results of your audition concerning admission to the School of Music and any scholarship awarded. Please acknowledge acceptance into the School of Music and return the Scholarship Acceptance Form within two weeks, if applicable.

After Acceptance to the University and the School of Music
