Student Health Insurance

Sam Houston State University strongly encourages its students to maintain health insurance during the duration of their academic pursuits. The university is proud to offer its students the option of obtaining insurance through Academic HealthPlans.

Coverage under this policy or its equivalent is required for international students regardless of visa type or employment status. Without equivalent coverage, foreign students are required to purchase both the basic plan and optional coverage to meet the mandated coverage amounts. If you do have alternative coverage please refer to the instructions listed below to obtain a waiver.

Additional information regarding the student health insurance plan may be obtained at the Student Health Center or by calling the main line at 936-294-1805.
